We are traveling to a tournament and will be renting a 15-passenger van? Do we have coverage under AYSO's automobile policy?
No, you will not have coverage. AYSO recommends you purchase the insurance coverage offered by the rental company regardless of the vehicle chosen. While attending an AYSO Event a strong gust of wind uplifts an AYSO tent and throws it into the parking lot damaging my vehicle. Will AYSO pay for the damages?
As the owner of the vehicle owner you must file the claim through your own insurance company to immediately rectify the damage or drivability to the car. Wind, rain, and other natural occurrences are considered by insurance companies to be “Acts of God.” These types of occurrences are not “at fault” coverage's where a company is negligent or legally liable.

Our region wants to sell fireworks as a fundraiser this year. Do we have coverage under AYOS's General Liability policy?
No! AYSO's General Liability specifically excludes the selling of fireworks. If your region is determined to sell fireworks, the firework provider (owner) will need to issue a certificate of insurance to AYSO, listing AYSO as additional insured, and this insurance certificate must meet minimum AYSO standards. It is imperative you contact the National Office at 800-872-2976 for more information.

Why does AYSO not provide liability coverage for lawsuits arising out of player versus player situations?
Because injuries arising out of playing the sport of soccer or other activities associated with soccer such as practices, games, pre- and post- game activities, related non-athletic activities are considered part of the sport and excluded from our General Liability coverage. AYSO and its insurance carrier insures for activities related to its operations, not private incidents between two players or volunteers.

Is it true that our General Liability policy is considered "excess coverage"? What does that mean?
Our policy provides primary coverage unless the incident occurs during a non-soccer related event. For instance, if a volunteer holds an end of season party at their house, our carrier will provide excess coverage over any underlying homeowner's policy. This means that anyone suing you for an incident that may occur during the non-soccer related event would first look to your homeowners policy for coverage if one exists, and then to the AYSO liability policy, in that order.

I am a registered volunteer and coach in my region, and a parent has accused me of sexual abuse. Will AYSO's General Liability policy provide primary coverage for me, or will I have to use my homeowner's policy first?
Yes, you will be covered by AYSO's policy on a primary basis, and you will not have to look to your own homeowner's policy. A person will have coverage up to the point where it is determined that that person took part in inflicting physical or sexual abuse upon another person. All General Liability policies exclude intentional acts once proven by a court of law.
