AYSO Alum Morgan Named Athlete of the Year

Congratulations to U.S. Soccer star and AYSO alum Alex Morgan for being named U.S. Soccer’s Female Athlete of the Year!

Morgan has had a great year of soccer – including helping the U.S. bring home a gold medal from this summer’s Olympic Games. She also currently leads all U.S. scorers with 28 goals on the year – not to mention an impressive of 19 assists.

Morgan joined her local AYSO Region in Diamond Bar, Calif., as a young girl. She regularly speaks fondly of the time she spent in AYSO, the friends she made and the impact her parents had when they coached her teams.

It's also worthwhile to note that Julie Johnston - a member of U.S. Soccer's U-20 Women's team and another AYSO alum - was named the Young Female Athlete of the Year.
