Search Begins for New AYSO National Executive Director
11/20/2012 4:13:46 PM
Following the announced retirement of National Executive Director (NED) Tom Tobin, AYSO has formed a search committee to identify the organization’s next professional leader. The committee will be chaired by Bob Daniel, a member of the National Board of Directors (NBOD), and will consist of members of the NBOD, Section Directors and National Office staff.
As its first step, the search committee has retained a search firm, DRG Executive Search, to facilitate the process and conduct a national search for candidates. DRG Executive Search is a 25 year-old national firm based in New York City that works exclusively with non-profit organizations.
A comprehensive search will require approximately four months. During that time, the search committee will work to interview candidates, vet through work histories, and subsequently, make a candidate recommendation to the NBOD.
We are certain that there will be many individuals interested in this opportunity. Any candidate inquiries or nominations should be forwarded directly to our search firm at ayso@drgnyc.com.
When Tom Tobin steps down on Dec. 14, 2012, NBOD member Tony Veronico has agreed to serve as the interim NED until a permanent person is selected. He has been an AYSO volunteer for over 28 years and had a long career in non-profit management including serving as CEO of two different New York-based organizations. He retired professionally in 2008 but has agreed to step in to the interim role to ensure a smooth transition of leadership for the AYSO National Office.
