1/17/2012 9:58:25 AM
Coach Joe Borrosh is the 2012 recipient of the Robert W. Robinson High School Long Term Service Award, the first sponsored by AYSO. An award of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, the prestigious high school coaching honor was presented by AYSO National President Paula Berriz and Robert Robinson at the 2012 NSCAA Awards Banquet, which was held Friday, Jan. 13 during the organization’s annual convention in Kansas City, Mo.
Borrosh coached for 32 years at Pittsford’s Central and Mendon high schools. The 1989 NSCAA National High School Coach of the Year, Borrosh spent 17 years on the New York State Soccer Committee, chaired the NSCAA’s High School History and Record Committee for 15 years, chaired the NSCAA Region II All-America Committee and was inducted into the NSCAA Hall of Fame in 2011.
The “Robby” is named in honor of Robert W. “Robby” Robinson, a now-retired Philadelphia area high school coach who has touched virtually every aspect of the NSCAA. An NSCAA Hall of Famer, he is a past president of the organization and received the Honor Award in 1999. Each year, the NSCAA presents this award to a person who has raised interscholastic soccer to new heights through his or her long-term dedication to the game.
