3 Reasons Not to Include Names on AYSO Uniforms
1/4/2012 4:21:29 PM

If your Region is holding a spring season, it's time to order uniforms! Before you do, remember these three reasons player names do not go on the back of AYSO uniforms:
- Follow the rules. Per AYSO's Rules & Regulations (page 8, item E), "no AYSO uniform may bear a team member's name, or team name..."
- Safety first. AYSO's Safe Haven requires that for minor players, names should never be publicized with jersey numbers or pictures for the safety of the children. This is to ensure that uniforms do not aid attempts by strangers to gain familiarity with an unsuspecting child.
- There's no "I" in team. Some believe that including a name on the back of children's jerseys in their initial experiences with sports can create more of an individualistic focus instead of a "team first" perspective.
Help keep your Region positive, safe and compliant by never putting player names on AYSO uniforms.
